This 400 year old cottage was surrounded by dull concrete and tired planting areas, with a sloped lawn and very little character, our client contacted us to help change that. Our brief was low maintenance, no grass, match the cottage with an area to park cars.
We designed this garden with the cottage at the heart of our all our material choices, and so we chose a honey limestone and block to match the stone of the old cottage. We used sleepers to create raised borders for easy maintenance and implemented circles and curves within the hard landscaping to add interest and soften the paving. Paying attention to the details, we built a raised bed out of mixed size stone, a water feature in homage to the cottages' previous well, and even reclaimed the original salt glazed drains. A beautiful property such as this, deserved a garden and driveway that was just as beautiful.
